The Fall season is in fully swing, which means Halloween is just around the corner. If you currently have braces, you may be worried that you will not be able to enjoy your Halloween candy as much as you have before. While you definitely need to avoid sticky, chewy, and gummy candies, there are some candies that you can still enjoy.
The most popular sweet treat that you will still be able to enjoy after trick-or-treating is chocolate! Dig into Hershey’s, Reese’s Cups, and Twix bars to fill your candy craving. However, still be mindful that biting into a big bar of chocolate could still damage the equipment on your front teeth if you are not careful. Look for fun size candy bars, or break your larger candy bars into small pieces for the safest option.
Other foods that you can still enjoy during the Halloween season include, cookies, crackers, and apples. Soft cookies and crackers can safely be eaten, and apples, when cut into bite-size pieces are safe as well. Cutting apples into small pieces and drizzling caramel sauce over them is a great alternative to a candy apple.
While it may seem like you’re missing out on your favorite Halloween candies, you can still dig in to some of your trick-or-treating bag of candy. And remember, taking care of your teeth and braces will be worth it in the end. Perelmuter & Goldberg wishes all of our patients and families a happy and safe Halloween!
