What to Expect at Your First Orthodontist Appointment
Orthodontic care ranges in importance from person to person. The main goal of orthodontic treatment though is providing you with a straighter and healthier smile. Here at Perelmuter & Goldberg we start each new client with a consultation with either Dr. Perelmuter or Dr. Goldberg. We understand you want a smile that looks and feels better, and you need to know what to expect from start to finish. To improve the appearance and position of your teeth, braces are no longer the only option.
The very thorough evaluation will include an assessment of your teeth, smile and bite followed by photographs. This will allow our doctors to further determine if orthodontic treatment is right for you. Based on the guidelines set by the American Association of Orthodontists, all children should receive an orthodontic evaluation by the age of seven. Although active treatment may not be required right away, the sooner a patient is seen could help prevent some orthodontic conditions or minimize early involvement.
Your initial visit will provide us all to figure out which orthodontic treatment is right for you. We offer both braces and Invisalign treatment and can go through all options with you.
If you agree to go ahead with treatments, the next step is to make an appointment to get the appliances placed. Our staff will explain the importance of good oral hygiene while the appliances are in place. They will discuss how to care for the appliances and review proper dental hygiene procedures.
Appointments are usually needed every 6 to 10 weeks to determine the progress of your teeth and to make adjustments.
