Greater Smiles for Adults

IT’S NEVER TOO LATER FOR AN AWARD WINNING SMILE

GreaterSmilesAdultsMore and more adults are seeking orthodontic treatment for a variety of reasons – from cosmetic improvement to treatment of bite and jaw disorders. With 50% of our practice concentrated in the treatment of adult patients, we understand well how the techniques and challenges of adult orthodontics differ from orthodontics for children. Some of these are:

  • Jaw and tooth conditions may present some limitations.
  • Time factors and limits in the adult patient’s ability to tolerate certain appliances for cosmetics or comfort require greater variety in the orthodontic appliances we offer.
  • Your cosmetic and comfort requirements must be met.
  • The need for coordination of treatment with your dentist, periodontist, or other specialist requires a high level of communication among all professionals involved in your care.

Specialized Services

We offer specialized services to meet the challenges of treating adult orthodontic patients. Advances in the diagnosis and treatment of adult orthodontic cases includes:

  • In-office computerized imaging and treatment simulation for surgical and non-surgical treatments.
  • State-of-the-art ceramic cosmetic braces
  • Invisalign® treatment – a series of clear, removable fitted aligners (similar to bleaching trays) can substitute for braces in most cases. Dr. Perelmuter and Dr. Goldberg are international leaders in developing and using the Invisalign system.
  • The use of an oral scanner instead of molds and impressions for improved accuracy and comfort, especially for patients with a severe gag response.
  • Light, continuous force application allowing 6-12 week appointment intervals, reducing the number of appointments for our frequently busy patients.
  • Non-surgical treatment options for cases which may ideally be treated by a surgical plan which the patient might decline.
  • The use of nitrous oxide sedation for anxious patients and during removal of brackets from hypersensitive teeth.
  • Indirect bracketing, thereby shortening the banding appointment, reducing patient discomfort and improving the precision of bracket placement.
